About Me
Hi, I’m Emily…
A secondary school teacher, a mum, and the founder of Nurtured to Sleep.
When my son was born, I expected the early days to be hard. What I didn't expect was just how lost I would feel. He had reflux for the first six months and a milk allergy that lasted until he was eighteen months old, and somewhere in the middle of it all, he ended up in hospital. I remember feeling completely overprotective, desperate to understand everything, and convinced that if I just researched hard enough, I'd find the answer that would make things easier for him — and for me.
The trouble was, I had all the research and none of the guidance. I'd spend hours reading articles late at night, trying to work out what was "normal" and what wasn't, never quite sure whether I was getting it right. I was trying to be a present, engaged teacher by day and a calm, capable mum by night, and most evenings I felt like I was failing at both. I became almost obsessed with making sure my little one was getting enough rest, because I knew, deep down, how much it mattered for both of us.
What I didn't have, and what I desperately wished for, was someone who understood — not just the textbook version of sleep training, but the reality of being a tired, anxious, first-time mum trying to hold everything together. Someone who could turn all that research into something I could actually do, at bedtime, with my own child.
That's the gap I built Nurtured to Sleep to fill. I'm not here to hand you a generic routine and disappear. I'm here because I've lived the sleepless nights, the second-guessing, and the loneliness that can come with those first couple of years — and I never want another mum to feel as unsupported as I did.
Family is at the heart of everything I do, both at home and in my work. I believe every child is unique, but that connection and security are the foundation everything else is built on. That belief shapes every sleep plan I create.
How I Can Help
My approach to sleep support is shaped directly by my own experience — and by what I learned the hard way. I don't believe in cry-it-out methods. I believe in responsive, comfort-led techniques that respect your child's emotional needs and developmental stage, while still working steadily towards confident, independent sleep. I'll always be upfront with you: some tears are usually part of the process of change, and I'll talk you through exactly what to expect on our discovery call, so there are no surprises.
I know you're not just looking for a sleep plan — you're looking for reassurance, clarity, and someone in your corner who won't judge the questions you ask, however many times you ask them. As a working mum myself, I understand that your time is precious, so I keep things direct: clear instructions, clear feedback, and clear next steps, delivered in a timely way so you're never left wondering what to do next.
Working with me looks like this: we start with a thorough review of your baby's sleep log, followed by a one-hour consultation where I get to know your family, your child's temperament, and what's been happening at bedtime. From there, I build a personalised sleep plan around your baby's environment, feeding and nap schedule, and habits — and I stay close to you throughout, via WhatsApp, for three full weeks of hands-on support.
Above all, I want you to feel confident — not just that your baby is sleeping well, but that you made decisions you can trust, with someone who genuinely understood what you were going through. That's the support I wished I'd had, and it's the support I'm here to give you.
